Big Challenge application tips – please read before completing your application

• The deadline for applications is 3pm on Tuesday 6th July.


• You have to complete all sections of the form for it to be eligible.


• You can click through the different tabs to have a look at the whole application form before you complete it.


• The form may take you up to an hour to complete so make sure that you sit down to do it at a time when you don’t have to rush or when you have other members of your team with you.


• You can save the form and come back to it but you will need to use the same computer each time. You must also have cookies enabled for this to work.


• The main questions each have a 100 word limit in the answer boxes. You might want to try answering the main questions in a word document first so that you make sure that you stick to the limit.


• We limit the number of words per question to encourage you to try and make your answers as good as possible – try and really think about what the most important points are about your ideas.


• You have the opportunity to attach one extra document to the application after the questions if you want to. You can attach ONE of the following...
  1. A photograph
  2. A Powerpoint presentation of up to 10 slides
  3. A poster or flyer design
  4. A ‘YouTube’ link to a film
  5. A picture, drawing or diagram
  6. If you have anything else that you want to submit then please call the helpline to speak to us about it in advance


• If you want to request the application form in a different format (word document, large type etc) then please contact us at bigchallenge@unltd.org.uk

• Once you have submitted your application to us: the summary will be uploaded on to the Big Challenge website. After the deadline, all applications will be shortlisted and you may be contacted for further information before projects are put to a public vote on the website. We will let you know by the 3rd August whether or not you have been successful, and we will be happy to provide feedback if you have not. The amount of the Challenge fund that winners will be given is decided by the Youth Leadership Team after the public vote has taken place.

• Please note - If you are successful in winning a portion of the Big Challenge fund then you will be working with young volunteers and we will ask you to provide us with a satisfactory disclosure which may be obtained from the Criminal Records Bureau. We can assist with this process and all information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
