The Street Law project!
We know that young people have valid opinions and can argue them as well as any Lawyer out there, so I’m giving young people the chance to do just that. All young people deserve the chance to experience a legal career, without being told that it is too expensive or too difficult. Basic knowledge of the Law is invaluable at any age.
As well as learning the Law that affects them the most and learning to form legal arguments, young people can test their legal skills in the Street Law Court’s very own MOCK TRIALS.

My big idea to tackle the big challenge is to create a youth empowerment forum, Far too often we young people have fantastic ideas & strategies and we feel we have no voice or organisation we can turn to for help. I want to set this forum up so not only have our young people got a on-line alternative with live chat interaction with young volunteer mentors but they will also have a place to meet up monthly where they will be able to speak to a panel from the local council, police etc. about their views on top of this we want a dedicated weekly social enterprise meeting where young business minds can network and get some help in making their dreams reality..... This forum is needed and will be successful and inspiring for many young entrepreneurs, community activists etc.

The inspiration started with three Malawi Youth Bands (click youtube link). There is something special about these youths –their entrepreneurial spirit needs support. Most UK teenage bands strive to release the next hit - they need support. If successful, they will help combat unemployment and enhance the government’s campaign for entrepreneurial development amongst the youth – a big issue.
At OneMusic we’re creating a product that links the two groups together and supports each other – a CD. Music from both will be recorded and sold nationwide. Our idea includes everyone -so join in, send us some music, buy a CD, hear us on internet radio, spread the One Music inspiration, change lives.

My big idea to tackle the Big Challenge is… to address the Government agenda to create a “Big Society” led and inspired by young people of our community. We believe this can only be achieved from the grassroots level. The real work and passion is embraced by the communities itself, by organising events which will bring the community together. Physical connection is therefore paramount in building trust and a stronger community. That's why I want to build up strong local connections which are tangible and where people literally come together to meet and mingle through our youth for generations to come and to set an example. Big Society, Big Challenge.

I am a volunteer at New Routes, an organisation that supports the integration of refugees and their families into the community. My idea is to organise a day out to Sheringham beach, where many refugee families cannot afford to go, accompanied by young volunteers. Refugee families will have a fun day out, learn the skills and gain the confidence vital to make a small trip like this in the future on their own, such as being able to use public transport, communicate with members of the public, and meet other people in a similar position to themselves.

The serious lack of models from ethnic minorities in the Fashion Industry has got CEO’s of highly established model agencies, famous photographers and superstar models such as Naomi Campbell expressing the serious need for event organizers to find a solution. We are holding a catwalk modeling competition with a multicultural set of young aspiring models. Young models from an ethnic minority will get a chance to show they are as versatile on the runway as their other female model counterparts. Contestants will get huge recognition; winners will get contracts to successful modeling agencies and model for London Fashion Week.

To create a sound installation which breaths life into everyday, mundane objects. 'The Musical Cupboard' is naturally interactive, promoting input from anybody who is subject to it creating an on going piece of music which is composed by the community around it. The audiences participation to the piece is extremely important, this breaks down barriers and appeals to people who may not be interested in conventional art forms. The installation is very accessible, it encourages people to get involved and look at art in a different way.

Creativity = Positive expression. Developing creative opportunities in an aim to battle homelessness amongst youngsters, and the negative energy that surrounds it. Experiencing work at homeless charities showed me that creative practices like drawing and photography can help focus the mind upon something that is pleasurable, whilst at the same time, the freedom of positive expression, which may initially prove difficult to achieve. Artwork will be exhibited as an aim at raising awareness into homelessness amongst youngsters here in the UK, but also as a goal that will act as a driving force into the successes amongst the people involved.

To produce a community youth based radio show to enhance or to give the young people a platform to voice an opinion and inspire other young people through their words and music. We will be doing this by hosting different shows e.g. debate shows live on air regarding the issues affecting our young community. We will allow the youth to express their views on different areas by various means such as rapping against each other live on air. The station will also be allowing the youth to remove the stereotyping that is surrounded the community and how they feel.

I intend to carry out a series of Young Enterprise workshops in my local area. These will be open to young people between the ages of 16 and 21 who have a learning disability.
The workshops will centre around a Young Enterprise theme, in which service users will produce some type of product, (e.g. baking cakes or taking part in arts and crafts) and these will then be sold on to the local community. Each workshop will be made up of two sessions, the first session will include making the product and the second the selling of the products.
We will also provide ongoing support for individuals wishing to apply for work, in terms of the interview process and the filling out of complicated application forms.
I intend to recruit a number of young volunteers who do not have disabilites to help me run and manage the project, therefore inspiring both young people who live with a disability and those who do not, to contribute to the development of the community.

to assemble a football team in my local area, Rudry. I hope to integrate the community whilst attracting other areas to the village. The team will be aimed at all ages, in an attempt to gather residents and friends in order to raise fitness and create/maintain friendships. I believe it would be a good idea as it would create links between other areas with a healthy rivalry. I hope that my idea will also raise the profile of my village in order to attract income. The funding will go towards assembling the team, advertising, kit and equipment.

Some of the sessions will be run by volunteer adults and others will be run by young people who have been through the experience of living independently themselves.

striving for equality, development and sustainability in both the developing and developed countries, raising awareness by stimulating and awakening people’s social consciousness by using engaging techniques such as; role playing, design activities, craft work shops and selling tool kits. What makes Wakeup Campaign distinctive is that it uses art/design as an engagement tool to discuss development issues, rather than the common stereotyped imagery of poverty being seen on TV.
