My project would be aimed at young women from minority ethnic backgrounds, who are 16-21 years old. Its essential goal will be to encourage more ethnic minority women to aim high in their careers, and enter top positions and jobs. Work experience is essential to success and therefore after searching and applying on the website, successful candidates will gain structured work experience and internships in their desired field. I will liaise with various companies, institutions and individuals to encourage them to participate in offering work experience, while by providing them with excellent publicity in return for their community cooperation.

Clapham in South London has a thriving multi-cultural population, making it one of the most attractive and trendiest places to live in the UK. With countless bars, clubs and restaurants catering to young professionals from all walks of life, not enough is done to ensure its youth are getting the very best out of the area. Our intention is to organise an event for young people (primary and secondary level) within Clapham, specialising and offering recreational and educational activities - with a primary focus on the creative arts and sports, we hope to use these tools as a means to promote physical, intellectual and social well being among the youth.

Summary

My big idea to tackle the Big Challenge is to launch a website to help young people explore career choices and find jobs. Our team consists of film makers, web developers and researchers. We will interview and shadow leaders of industries to give an idea of what each job involves. Our experiences will be posted on the website through blogs, articles and videos. The website will include a jobs board and recruitment links. When the website launches the team will deliver career workshops to raise awareness of the website amongst educational establishments and youth organisations, we will also advertise online.

To produce a community youth based radio show to enhance or to give the young people a platform to voice an opinion and inspire other young people through their words and music. We will be doing this by hosting different shows e.g. debate shows live on air regarding the issues affecting our young community. We will allow the youth to express their views on different areas by various means such as rapping against each other live on air. The station will also be allowing the youth to remove the stereotyping that is surrounded the community and how they feel.

....to simply reintroduce the youth of today into the natural world. Through involvement in small management initiatives in local woodlands - volunteers will gain an understanding into the environmental, social and economic benefits woodlands have to offer! With the correct management techniques one can enhance biodiversity and at the same time reap an abundance of raw materials that will enable volunteers to experience making an array of traditional hand crafted products. From baskets to broom, chairs to charcoal! Wood was once used for nearly everything, so the only limitation to what one can make is their imagination.... Let Trees Inspire!

The showcase will provide a platform for aspiring young female artists and musicians giving them the opportunity to perform alongside a more established female act, inspiring them to live out their dreams. We intend to bring British female talent to the forefront and empower young females through the arts to help dispel negative associations that come with being young and female today.

Summary

It is universally known that Nottingham is severely divided, by gun crime and area code rivalry. I want to promote a UNIFIED Nottingham through a project called NOTTINGHAM LOVE. Music is a huge draw for young people and this project aims to set up a record company for the community, I STRESS NO ONE IS DOING THIS IN NOTTINGHAM as most people are too busy trying to “make it” for themselves. The record company will built upon volunteers from different areas of the city, their first task; to create a single and video called NOTTINGHAM LOVE. Young people, for the song, will be chosen through competitions being held to find the finest vocalist from areas around Nottingham. For more details please feel free to contact me as this is a short overview.

to combine together two passions of mine; football and literature. I currently write articles on caughtoffside.com, a well know football blog site and have graduated from Newcastle University with a BA Hons in English Literature. I would love to be able to go to local secondary schools and teach under -erforming teenage boys key English skills through writing about football. Newcastle is a city with feverish passion for the beautiful game, which is something I truly believe could be utilised in educational vocations to produce positive results for the local area.

In an attempt to reach out to young people who don’t usually engage with youth service I would like to introduce a mobile youth unit. Rather than young people going to a youth centre or club this unit would come to them. It would take the form of a trolley/ cart and onboard would be information and resources; sexual health information, drug and alcohol misuse advice and a condom dispensary. In addition to this there would also be an internet connection and laptop as well as refreshment facilities. This would be staffed by a trained youth worker and potentially a young person (who would be accredited for this work) who would take it to places young people are known to frequent.
